The Flight to Intune continues
With over 150 (yep, one hundred and fifty!) new features and updates released for Intune since March 2023, it's clear where the major Microsoft Endpoint Manager focus is.
We have seen a significant rise in the number of larger enterprise customers moving their application and device management to Intune by default, and this also generates significant audit and remediation activity in the GPO / configuration manager security management space, to ensure that there are no compliance gaps, and that redacted requirements are not transferred to Intune based policy management.
Microsoft and macOS takes off
As Microsoft Intune features and updates continue to rollout out at a staggering speed it is not surprising that we have seen a significant uptake in migrations from the older macOS and iOS dedicated management tools, to Intune management of these devices’ security and applications.
The functionality increases in this area have seen numerous large customers accept that Microsoft Endpoint Management for macOS and iOS has improved to a level that meets the modern Enterprise requirements, as well as allowing standardisation on Microsoft Endpoint Management as a single point across the enterprise. We can organise an informal technical chat with one of our MEM consultants if you wanted to evaluate what you do today using other macOS management tools against what is currently available via Intune.

Azure Hybrid License Management
Hybrid License management in the Cloud enabled Enterprise is another area of interest where organisations have openly embraced a cloud first policy for Infrastructure and resilience.
IaaS, PaaS and SaaS consumption is the default, however so are growing Operational costs. With as much as 1/3rd of cloud costs coming not from compute or data transit costs, but from software rental, the principle of “checking your software draw” to see what perpetual license agreements or EA entitlements you could be allocating to your cloud usage is a hot topic. The investigation is complex, balancing existing entitlements and extension periods against current and projected SaaS usage is not easy, but there are solutions that can automate the heavy lifting.
